Architects and Surveyors

Desk Studies

For any development, anywhere, the information revealed will inform the whole project. A good desk study should save on project & Ground Investigation cost.

Ground/site investigation

We arrange and undertake cable percussive boreholes, trial pits, in situ testing. The data can then be reported factually or interpreted for use in project

Basement Impact Assessment

We can provide full basement impact assessments; from GI through to reporting and detailed design inputs (if required).

Structural Sampling

Taking of samples (concrete cores and cubes) for off-site testing. Ferroscanning and Magnetic Particle Inspection undertaken and reported.

Lintels and Beams

We provide calculations and construction details for lintels over openings or beams and columns to support other loads which may be needed for building regulation

Soakaway testing

Soakaways designed to BRE 365 and to comply with the requirements of the building regulations, including the testing to inform the design.

Slope Stability

Both embankment and cutting slopes should be designed, once enough is know about the ground it is time to undertake a slope stability analysis.

Coal mining risk

We undertake coal mining risk assessments nationwide. Our fees can be as little as £330 (exc. VAT) depending on the scope of what is needed.

Rafts, floors and slabs

Proper interpretation of the ground conditions design leading to efficient design means: the correct ground testing to determine the sub-grade reaction modulus and its determination

Pile design and analysis

Soil-structure interaction analysis can be undertaken to inform an efficient design. In difficult ground conditions this will prove considerably beneficial.

Retaining Wall

Where required we can help with the design of retaining walls of all types.

Topographic Survey

With over 25 years surveying experience, our survey team at Gown Engineering Ltd are on hand to provide a tailor made and cost-effective solution to

Flood Risk

Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and Flood Consequence Assessments (FCA) undertaken.

We can effectively design and specify earthworks and help supervise them such that they are independently verified.

Once site ground conditions are identified, appropriate foundations can be chosen. These can then be designed such that the most economical solution is used.
